Carpentry U-Live Events is a local teaching facility that offers introductory level classes about basic carpentry and home remodeling in northern California through a summer series of workshops.

We strive to teach the basics about hand and power tools and how to apply them in a realistic application. This is based on years of experience doing full kitchen and bath remodeling from the ground up. Led by Camille Finan, a successful finish carpenter and her team, along with guest instructors and professional contractors. She is known for demystifying tools and providing a safe and stress-free environment to learn at your own pace.

2017 UPCOMING CLASSES

Thank you all for considering joining us in the workshop this summer! We’ve made some changes to the format to better serve you and provide even more in depth experience with all the tools. We still offer our basic beginner TOOL 101 class for everyone that covers all the power tools. There are only 5 of these classes and are always the 1st saturday of each month.

Our next level of classes are all “take home” projects where each student will work on their own individual item while following along with instruction. We only offer each of these classes 2x in the summer, they include all the actual materials, take home plans and a finished project at end of class. You will see an ** beside these classes.

Lastly, you will see 2 intermediate classes that are designed to take your skills to the next level or for those students wanting even more one on one attention. This is our smallest class size and our only full weekend classes. You will see a ***** beside these classes. Each is only offered 2x in the summer, feel free to email us with additional questions.

Learn how to measure, cut and assemble a bookcase using some new tools, the guided skillsaw and domino machine. Learning to construct a bookcase allows you to learn all kinds of skills that apply to larger projects. From accurate measuring, visualizing, layout and new ways to attach boards. Like the side table class, the skills you learn here will enable you to move into more advanced classes.

We introduce the guided skillsaw here, which teaches you the basics of cutting up large sheets of wood safely. All students work on their own project and take it home that day. All wood materials and tools provided. Lunch and t-shirt provided. Full Day Class (9:00-4:00pm). TOOL EMPHASIS: GUIDED SKILLSAW, CHOPSAW, DOMINO MACHINE

Camille Finan founded CarpentryU after years of working in the trades. She specializes in kitchen remodeling and is a longtime cabinetmaker. Over the years she has increased her skills into hardwood floor installation, tile setting and many other trades.

This variety of experiences has enabled her to understand finish carpentry from many angles and also the approbate tools that go along with each trade. She noticed that many of the traditional tools and training were inadequate for women and thus started this series of training sessions to help women become confident and competent with using better tools and better training.
