Optimise your images with Google Page Speed Insights

image optimization 10

hello divi theme users I've just given a little tip on image optimization and really suggested that I do a video tutorial on elegant marketplace I've resisted that because I don't want to write it so here's a video instead and I hope you enjoy so one of the things that I like to do is to go to developers.googl calm and just explore everything google.

yes I do SEO yes I do web development mainly project management actually and web develop my purse do the development and all I do is I like to have some insights into how we're going to develop particular website especially if it's going to be image-heavy so you can see that my most visited page on this is PageSpeed insights or page speed tools I would suggest to read the docs first I've read them so I can go straight to run in

size now I'm going to just test somebody's hero code at UK I've uploaded a larger-than-normal image so I'm hoping for a terrible result as soon as I put my URL in here then you can see once you press the analyze button that it will produce hopefully a terrible result and there it is 37 out of 100 that's not very impressive is it at all but as I said I uploaded a larger

than usual image anyway so it's again terrible on desktop as well there's lots of things about enabling compression on this but what I'm more interested in is just basically having a look at enabling or compressing the images and what Google does to help us do that so effectively if you download optimized image look at that little line I'm just about to highlight you can download everything that on that page that Google doesn't like and

wants to optimize for you this is totally free it doesn't cost you a penny and especially if you don't use Photoshop or all of the adobe suite or any kind of image optimization tool like tiny ping this will give you optimized images and it's pretty good at Google I think to give it to you for free let's just click that link and download the optimized file is is it i'm going to open

it because i know it's safe it's from google we'd hope it's safe anyway and you can see that there's folders there CSS image j/s and a little manifest it tells you exactly what you've got in there in a little notepad situation so your image is now this particular image I know was about five hundred kilobytes it's a hundred and eight kilobytes now so that's you know a big percentage on the working out too

stupid but it really does optimize remedies now if you had half a dozen images on there that it could spot then you're saving an awful lot of speed you can also see that it can optimize all your jscript and your jquery's and all that kind of coding as well I wouldn't suggest that you aren't load this directly to your website you know you can experiment with it play with it just log on

to your website and see how much it saves on speed but on the dev server have some fun and appreciate that Google actually is giving you something back now there's no obvious reason why Google are doing this they are a search engine which is in effect a referral now if they're giving a bad referral ie a website that takes forever to load they're not doing their job properly so they're helping you make your

job easier enjoy thanks for listening you can find me on the Facebook divi theme users group you can also find me of somebody's hero vodka at UK and an elegant marketplace thanks for letting me do this video for you and I'll speak to you soon
